LAVRION-Info
Because there isn't much practical info to be found on Lavrion, we decided to bundle our info on Lavrion in this chapter.
With the new Athens Airport, Lavrion is a reasonably new charterbase that's becoming popular very quickly. Most of the charterfirms are now opening a base here.
Advantages :
- It's as close to the Airport as the Marina Kalamaki (busride ca.50 min.)
- It's a lot more peacefull then the hectic & noisy Marina of Kalamaki.
- It's only 15 N.Miles to the first Cycladic Island : Kea.
- All Saronic Islands (Poros, Hydra, Spetses), except Aegina, are closer to Lavrion then Kalamaki.
- Most of the charteryachts are situated in the City-harbour of Lavrion, and NOT in the Olympic Marina a few kilometres South of the city.
- There's the choice between the Charterquay (nr.1) e.g. Argolis etc. and the cityquay (nr.2) e.g. Bestsail etc...
- There are 3 mediumsized Supermarkets with a good variety & acceptable pricing. Distance from the harbour : ca.600m.
- Taverna Kokovios is a very nice Greek restaurant, with a wide choice and acceptable prices, beware it's also very popular with the locals, so reservations may be necessary !
(Taverna-reviews are subjective, because during time the quality may have changed or the restaurant may not even exist anymore !)
TRANSPORT
At the airport you have to go to the busstop right in front of the SOFITEL-Hotel,
it's opposite the taxi-stand on the Arrivals-level, it's marked by an orange-shield (see picture).

From july 2006 there's a new timetable & the bus goes directely to Lavrion/Airport (so you don't have to change busses at Markopoulou anymore !)
Between 06.00 - 22.00h, there's a bus each hour / Price : ca.4,10 €/pers.

Of course you can always take a taxi to Lavrion, but you should ALWAYS AGREE ON THE PRICE BEFORE YOU GET IN THE TAXI ! There have been several reports of ridiculous pricing that lean to swindle ! BEWARE ! (max. price schould be ca.30 € / taxi).
